Electronic Temperature Controller, A New Age
The Electronic temperature controller is becoming more and more common. It might be for heat, like many Ranco temperature controller products or more for cooling, like many of Goldlink products. Regardless of how it is used it is not a new invention at all but an improvement of an old design which is over 500 years old. Regardless of its origin, it is now a staple in both home and industrial spheres. The electronic temperature controller is here to stay.
For a second, let us go back to it's earliest history, Galileo. Yes, you read that right, Galileo. We have all seen versions of his early thermometer with it's floating bubbles. They work because of the vessel and its bubbles. The first real commercial use of the electronic temperature controller, known as a digital, gets warmer then the liquid inside the balls expands and works the same way. The very same principal is true with today's thermometers only now they only use one substance, mercury. The use of using only mercury is still used to day.
From here you might start to see the evolution of the electronic temperature controller As the mercury expands when heating, it reflects the heat. With the rising of the mercury, two metallic bands, on one of the bands is copper, uncoil as well. This is how a mechanical thermostat works, by the rise and fall of the mercury.
In the day of the mechanical thermostat, the highs and lows were set with a dial or a hand. While both did worked, they were not that accurate. With the advent of the electronic thermostat, it was now possible to be much more accurate. This has changed everything.
The first real commercial application was that in the thermostat in the home. Here it was a good idea and went on to save a good deal of money as people learned not to over-set their thermostats. Using this new invention, people could keep their houses warm, but not hot, and cool, but not too cool. As it gained in popularity it found new uses about the home. Now hot tubs have become much more fun and safer and new hobbies came about because of it.
The biggest and most important work of them now however is for industrial usage. Many of the compounds we use everyday are very picky about the temperature they are born in. Too low and they turn into crystal or if too high will never set. Even high paid scientist have to just make an educated guess. It sounds terrible but it took Thomas Edison 1000's of try's to find a perfect filament. In this case, it is the temperature that has to be just right and that is made easy with temperature control systems.
Like it or not, electronic temperature controllers are part of our everyday lives, both personally and professionally. The use of them helped make you hair clip and keeps your office working productively. Electronic temperature controllers are now, and always will be, part of your life.
